Jeni Waters
I was raised in Artesia, NM, and currently resided in Carlsbad after living in numerous places throughout the state. I studied art and psychology at Eastern New Mexico University but have been creating art and writing since I was a child.
Currently, I work primarily with watercolor, ink, pencil, and acrylic, though photography has become my main artistic outlet in recent years. I enjoy doing portraits, landscapes, and nature photography. I hope to experiment more with macro and other forms in the near future.
Art and photography have become a part of myself that I have begun to embrace, rather than hide away. When I tell you that art is constantly in my head, it truly is. I sometimes struggle with anxiety and have found that creating gives me an outlet to see the world in a peaceful one-moment-in-time kind of way.
Artist statement. I feel that my art conveys the search for calm within a world of storms, I hope it allows for freedom of emotions in any way you as the viewer may need or be seeking. For me, creating is not only an artistic outlet but also an emotional one.
